Young artists from a Hinckley college have used their talents to create a moving exhibition about respecting the environment.

Students from North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College’s Hinckley campus will be showcasing their creative skills at the exhibition in the Atkins Gallery, based on Lower Bond Street, from Monday 23 January.

The display, created by students studying art and design as well as media, TV and film, and higher education programmes, will run until Friday 3 February, with visitors encouraged to vote for their favourite artwork. The winning students will receive prizes.

Staff from the College will also see their work displayed at another gallery exhibition, called Staff Celebration of Skills – Emotional Toast. This exhibition will run from February 13 until February 24 and will showcase the creative arts facilities available on the campus.

James Stanley, Learning and Skills Manager for Creative Arts at the College, said:

The exhibition is a showcase for the students in our weekly competition clubs, which encourage students to develop their skills and pitch themselves and their skills against their peers. This is also a great way to focus students’ hearts and minds on their impact on the environment.

Councillor Keith Nichols, the Borough Council’s Executive Member for Culture, said:

This promises to be two fantastic exhibitions by both students and staff. The College has such a fantastic range of talent and I urge people to go and see the creativity on display at both exhibitions.
