One of the highlights of the civic year took place last night (23 May) when a new Mayor of the Borough was installed for the next 12 months.

Councillor Scott Gibbens, who represents Hinckley's DeMontfort ward, was handed the chain of office from former Mayor, Councillor Dawn Glenville, before a council chamber that was packed with special guests.

Councillor Gibbens was first elected to the Borough Council in May 2019 and is married to fellow councillor, Councillor Cathie Gibbens, the Mayor's Consort.

The new Mayor will be raising funds for Hinckley Area Foodbank and Cat Action Trust Nuneaton & Hinckley throughout his term.

In his spare time, Councillor Gibbens enjoys walking his dogs and playing guitar.

The new Deputy Mayor is Councillor Robin Webber-Jones who represents Newbold Verdon with Desford and Peckleton ward. His consorts are his daughters Amelia (aged 12) and Clara (aged 8).
