Council host money advice and wellbeing events to support residents with the cost of living
Residents concerned about the national rising costs of living are being invited to explore the help and support available to them.
Two cost-of-living and wellbeing events will take place on:
- Saturday November 4, 10am-12pm at Barlestone Community Centre, Bosworth Road, Barlestone, CV13 0JE
- Saturday November 18,10am-12pm at the George Ward Centre, Church Lane, Barwell LE9 8DG
Organised by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, the events will give anyone who is concerned about the cost of living the opportunity to speak with council staff and other organisations about individual issues and concerns including household budgeting, benefits, housing, managing energy bills and fuel bills, managing debt and food support.
People attending will be able to speak to staff from a wide range of agencies including the council’s housing and welfare support teams, Citizens Advice, Clockwise, Social Prescribers, Mobile Community Hubs, Local Area Co-ordinators, GamCare, Hinckley U3A and more.
There will also be health and wellbeing assistance including blood pressure checks as well as ideas for cooking on a budget. Free refreshments will also be provided.
Leader of the council, councillor Stuart Bray, said:
“We understand that residents continue to be concerned about the cost of living. After a successful event last year which demonstrated that local people are actively seeking help, advice and support we understand that the coming winter months could be challenging. So, I hope residents who have concerns will come and see our staff and other experts. There are opportunities for people to speak confidentially and get support. There will be plenty of displays and information on offer. We hope that this will give all our residents reassurance where it is needed and will point those in need towards specific services and help.”
No appointment is needed to attend, and the event is open to all residents across the borough. For more information on the event, email charlotte.clayton@hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk or call 01455 265567.
