Hinckley BID's mini zoo success with more free events to come

Issued by Hinckley BID:
Hundreds of eager children visited our mini zoo last Wednesday and despite the queues and the waiting times, they thoroughly enjoyed handling various species of animal and being told their origin by top animal specialists. Many of the animals and reptiles were exhibited to people in the crowd while they waited in the queue.
Thirteen rare animals, all comfortable with the current climate, were available for the children to learn from. They were:
- Whippy the tailless whip scorpion
- McCoy the giant vinegaroon
- Charlotte the curly hair tarantula
- Lexi the leeches gecko
- Ozzy the blue-tongued skink
- Ripley the African Savannah monitor
- Pagani the boa constrictor
- Monty the Burmese Python
- Bandit the duprasi
- Morty the lesser tenrec
- Tina the tailless tenrec
- Ken the meerkat
- Aero the chocolate striped skunk
The next free Hinckley BID summer of fun events in Hinckley town centre include:
Wednesday 14 August - Summer of Fun – Sports day at The Crescent
To mark the 2024 Paris Olympics which ends the weekend before, Hinckley BID are bringing a host of ‘sporty’ activities to The Crescent. A nine-hole mini golf course will be provided by The Birdie Bunker. Hansome the Tiger from Hinckley Leisure Centre will be there to have some fun and lead a few warm-up exercises. John Parnell of Britain’s Got Talent fame (aka Hoop Guy) will provide hula hooping demonstrations and share his skills, and a face painter will decorate children with the Olympic rings. All free of charge.
Thursday 15 August - Classic Vehicle Meet
Held on Castle Steet from 5pm to 8pm, older and wonderfully restored cars and bikes (often very rare) park up in Market Place and on Castle Street and are admired by all who attend. Some are worth hundreds of thousands of pounds – so certainly worth a look, and as with all of Hinckley BID events, free to attend and to bring the vehicle.
Wednesday 21 August – Seaside Fun in Market Place
Hinckley BID's free town centre Summer of Fun events come to an end. A final day packed with a free seaside themed and eco-friendly Make & Take workshop and a traditional Punch & Judy, with shows at 11:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm & 3:00pm.
And finally, on Sunday 15 September is Hinckley BID’s 13th Annual Motor Show. Free to enter and free to attend – with around 800 classic and ultra-rare modern vehicles parked throughout Hinckley town centre and on Argents Mead.
There is something for all the family to enjoy. Lots of live music and entertainment for the children, this is the Midlands' largest town centre motorshow. Many of our cafes, restaurants and pubs will be open to suit all tastes, and all council car parks are also free on Sundays. Starts at 10am through to 4pm.
