Borough Council distributes £63,000 of government funding to Warm Welcome venues
The Borough Council has distributed £63,000 in funding to 42 local voluntary and community organisations.
The grants were made available thanks to a successful bid to the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and will support local voluntary and community organisations to provide free Warm Welcome sessions to Hinckley and Bosworth residents.
The Warm Welcome initiative aims to ensure that everyone knows where they can go to meet other people, have a hot drink and keep warm for free. Some locations offer the chance to have a snack or a light meal, take part in activities such as crafts or playing board games, and to make use of computers or free Wi-Fi.
Residents can also access a range of information, support and guidance on issues such as energy efficiency, wellbeing, money and budgeting.
Councillor Michael Mullaney, Executive Member for Community Safety and the Voluntary Sector, said: "Thank you to every organisation who applied for this funding. It has been so great to see our local community embrace the Warm Welcome initiative.
"There have been over 10,000 visits to Warm Welcome venues since October 2024, across more than 60 sites, which shows just how valuable they are to our residents."
