Cllr Richard Flemming becomes new Hinckley and Bosworth Mayor

One of the highlights of the civic year took place on Tuesday (13 May) at Annual Council when the new Mayor of the Borough was installed for the next 12 months.

Councillor Richard Flemming, who represents Burbage, Sketchley & Stretton, was handed the chain of office from former Mayor, Councillor Robin Webber-Jones before a council chamber that was packed with specially invited guests.

Councillor Flemming, a proud RAF veteran, was first elected to the Borough Council in 2019 and his consort for the year will be his wife, Jill.

The new Mayor will be raising funds for Leicestershire Air Ambulance and Hinckley Worklink Project.

In his spare time, Councillor Flemming is Secretary of the Channel Islands Specialists' Society, a philatelic society that studies the stamps and postal history of the Channel Islands. He is also Chairman of the Hinckley and District Orchid Society and a member of the Hinckley and District Philatelic Society.

The new Deputy Mayor is Councillor Cathie Gibbens who represents Hinckley Clarendon. Her consort is her husband, fellow councillor and former Mayor, Scott.
