Proms in the Park returns for 2025
Hinckley's Hollycroft Park will come alive with the sound of music when the popular Proms in the Park concert returns on Saturday 7 June.
The concert will celebrate both the 90th anniversary of the park and the recent VE Day.
Organised by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, the free open-air concert will feature performances from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra, an ensemble comprising more than 50 talented young musicians.
Under the baton of acclaimed conductor Douglas Mitchell, the RBC Wind Orchestra will be performing a feast of well-known music from The Beatles to Shostakovich, classic films such as Lord of the Rings and Superman, and West End favourites like The King and I, alongside Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No 1 and Walton’s Crown Imperial, so bring your hand waving flags to help end the concert in style.
The orchestra will be joined by singer Rose Johnson, a prize-winning graduate of The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, currently starring on the prestigious Young Artists’ programme with British Youth Opera.
Local business Bond Street Distillery will be providing an outdoor bar for adult visitors to enjoy. Friends of Hollycroft Park will be selling tea and coffee, and there will also be an ice cream van.
Council Leader, Cllr Stuart Bray said: “We welcome Douglas Mitchell, Rose Johnson and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra and look forward to a fun filled evening. So, bring your deck chairs and picnics or enjoy an ice cream or drink from one of the refreshment stalls and settle down to enjoy the great musical talent, the singing and the flag waving in our award-winning park.”
The event is free to attend, and no booking is necessary. However, capacity is limited in the auditorium area and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The event gates will open at 5pm with the concert starting at 6pm. The event is due to finish at 8:30pm. Please queue to enter the auditorium from the gate entrance on Hollycroft just before Westray Drive, entry into the auditorium area is not possible from other points.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead, please pick up after your dog.
The park's car park will only be available for Blue Badge holders, with a member of staff positioned at the gate - spaces are limited. We recommend that people use public transport or walk to the event where possible. There will also be a secure Bike Park at the event so cycling is encouraged.
If you are driving, please park in town centre car parks and walk to the event rather than using residential on-street parking. There will be temporary no parking restrictions in place on Westray Drive, Hollycroft Crescent, Orkney Close and Bute Close from 3pm on the day of the event.
Those attending are politely asked to take any litter home with you or dispose of it in an appropriate bin, including the new food waste bins. There will be portable toilets and handwashing facilities on site and the toilets at the pavilion will be open for the evening too.
