Residents and visitors support Armed Forces Day Service and Parade 2025
A special service and parade was held in Hinckley on Saturday (28 June) to enable people to show their support for the Armed Forces.
The event was organised by the Borough Council in partnership with the Hinckley combined Armed Forces and Veterans Community and Churches Together. In attendance were representatives from several regiments, nationalities, sections and services, including the local cadet forces and Cameron Waine for the drumhead service.
Now in its 17th year, Armed Forces Day offers everyone a chance to thank the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans, and cadets.
A procession marched down Castle Street and into Argents Mead for a service which was led by Reverand Ian Hill of St Mary’s Church and supported by the mayor’s chaplain Revd Kimberley Ford. Afterwards the parade made its way down Castle Street and along Station Road where a formal salute was taken by Mr Priyesh Patel MBE DL who represented the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire.
A variety of military vehicles were on display in Argents Mead for visitors to view, kindly supplied by volunteers including those from Charnwood MVT (Affiliated to the Military Vehicle Trust) and their members.
Cllr Dawn Glenville, Armed Forces Champion at the Borough Council, said: “I would like to thank all those who attended our Armed Forces Day parade and service.
“It is so important that we remember those we have lost, and to recognise the service of both veterans and those currently serving. It was great to see the public and the wider armed forces family come together to remember and celebrate.”
