Snap Dragon Children’s Festival returns to Argents Mead
The popular Snap Dragon Children and Families Festival returned this week (4 – 6 August) with three fun-filled days for all the family in Argents Mead.
The festival started on Monday with a Musical Mash Up range of themed activities, Tuesday saw Active Hinckley & Bosworth host Let’s Get Moving and Wednesday, National Play Day was all about the importance of play.
Each day, children enjoyed playing in a giant sand pit, arts and crafts by the United Reformed Church, role play activities, garden games, local radio station Fosse 107 put on a fun Snappy disco, and children and families enjoyed a range of different demonstrations from drumming by BeatFeet, kick boxing by Spartans Kickboxing Academy and John Potter’s Knight School. For children and families who had sensory requirements there was a calm corner, offering a relaxing atmosphere and sensory aids.
There was the traditional mascot tug of war competition featuring Filbert the Fox, musical performances from the Lee Academy of Dance and Drama, Grays Drama Academy also performed with the opportunity to meet and greet their real-life princesses and Tom the Tale Teller spun his tales of myth, magic and adventure.
Plus, for the first time Hinckley BID hosted a fancy dress swap shop, which was so successful the initiative will continue throughout the summer at the Support Sofa in the Britannia Centre.
Deputy Leader Cllr Mark Bools said: “It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces at Snap Dragon this week. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue, Hinckley Police to Leicestershire Pickleball plus the many others. We hope everyone had an amazing time and created some unforgettable memories.
“A big thank you to the organisers who made this event such a success. The weather was mixed, but that didn't stop the fun. We’re already looking forward to bringing the magic back next year.”
