Visitors enjoy a fun-filled Burbage Common Open Day
Visitors to Burbage Common enjoyed a fun-packed day on Sunday (7 September) at its annual open day event.
A marquee transformed the area around the visitor centre at the Leicester Road entrance, accommodating a number of stalls including craft stalls, charity stalls and local and national environmental charities.
Plenty of local residents entered their dog into our dog show. There were several different categories to accommodate all different ages, shapes and size of dog. Prizes and a rosette were handed out to the winners.
Also on site, there was fun for the whole family throughout the day. This included morris dancing, cheerleading and falconry displays, plus taekwondo and tai chi demonstrations.
There was also bug and bird box making, wildflower seed mats and archery; which plenty of children and their families enjoyed.
Amid all the fun, there were many food and refreshment stalls, plus a chance to stock up on tasty local produce from the farmers’ market area.
Cllr Lynda Hodgkins, Executive Member for Parks, said: "The open day at Burbage Common was a great success again this year.
“It was a joy to see smiles on the faces of people from all generations. Thank you to everyone who visited, we can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
