Families and shoppers are being advised to beware of ghosts, ghouls, witches and wizards as Hinckley’s popular Spooktacular Saturday event returns this October.

The fang-tastic event will be back in the town centre on Saturday 25 October, from 10am until 3pm. It will take place in Hinckley’s haunted Britannia Shopping Centre and promises fun for the entire family.

Those brave enough to visit can enjoy a range of free activities, including the ever-popular pumpkin bowling and a themed stilt walker. Little ones can also take part in creepy crafts before having freaky face paint stenciled onto ghostly faces.

Anyone attending is encouraged to come in their best Halloween fancy dress, with prizes for the creepiest costume handed out on the day. All children who wear fancy dress will receive a Halloween medal (subject to availability) and the best dressed competition with trophies to be won will be judged at 12pm by Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth, Richard Flemming.

Local radio station Fosse 107 have also joined the haunting and will be providing a spooky soundtrack to the day, with visitors able to dance along to Thriller, Monster Mash, Ghost Busters, Haunted and much more.

Borough Council Deputy Leader Cllr Mark Bools said: “With Halloween becoming very much part of the autumn calendar this family-friendly event always proves to be a hit with families and little ones. From pumpkin bowling to face painting, there is something for everyone, the costume competition is always a big hit, and it is always fun to see the Britannia Centre filled with so many creepy costumes and spooky faces. Come along and bring your family – if you dare!”

Families can also enjoy Hinckley BID’s Halloween Treasure Hunt, from 18 – 31 October.  Lots of prizes are on offer.  Clue Guides from Cineworld, Hinckley Library, Holiday Lounge, or download it from Hinckley BID (www.hinckleybid.co.uk)
