Remembrance Sunday in Hinckley

Published Friday, 17 October 2025

Residents are being invited to pay their respects at Hinckley’s annual Remembrance Sunday service.

This years’ service will be led by Reverand Ian Hill of St Mary’s Church and will take place on Sunday 9 November at the Argents Mead war memorial. The service will begin just before 11am.

Clergy and church members of different denominations, as well as the Royal British Legion and Veterans Groups, Civic Leaders, representatives of the Guiding, Scouting and Cadet Organisations, will all contribute to the morning’s service.

There will also be a parade from the hospital car park on Mount Road to the war memorial before the service. Following the service, there will be a parade down Castle Street, through the Market Place - where a salute will be taken - and into St Mary’s Road, where the parade will disperse.

All are welcome to attend both the service and the parades, although anyone planning to come along is respectfully asked to ensure they arrive at the memorial gardens by 10.45am.

Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth, Councillor Richard Flemming said: “Our annual Remembrance Sunday service is always a deeply moving occasion, and I’m honoured to take part and represent the borough. Each year, The Mead and the parade route are lined with veterans, serving personnel, uniformed organisations, and members of the public — all coming together to pay tribute and express heartfelt thanks to those currently serving, and to those who made huge sacrifices for our freedom.”

Please check individual parish council websites and the council’s events page for listings for other Remembrance Events and parades throughout the borough.
