Spooktacular celebrated in Hinckley
Families, shoppers, and visitors celebrated Halloween in style when they took part in the Borough Council’s popular Spooktacular on Saturday (25 October).
The fang-tastic event saw hundreds of people enjoy a day of fun in Hinckley’s haunted Britannia Shopping Centre.
Visitors enjoyed a range of FREE activities, including the ever-popular pumpkin bowling and a themed stilt walker. There were creepy crafts, spooky stone painting and a Halloween fancy dress competition with prizes for the creepiest costume handed out on the day. Everyone who took part received a medal (subject to availability) and trophies were presented to the overall winners by the Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth, Councillor Richard Flemming.
Local radio station Fosse 107 also joined the haunting and provided the spooky soundtrack to the day, with visitors able to dance along to Thriller, Monster Mash, Ghost Busters, Haunted and much more.
Visitors also enjoyed Hinckley BID’s Treasure Hunt (running until 31 October) which starts and ends in the Britannia Centre. There were fun clues to follow in the town’s shop windows and lots of great prizes were won.
Cllr Mark Bools, Deputy Leader of the Borough Council, said: “This family friendly event always proves to be a hit with families and little ones each October. It was another great event this year, with some fantastic Halloween fancy dress costumes. Thanks to everyone who took part and my thanks to the organisers for putting on another great free event for the borough.”
