New festive walking trail launched for light switch-on event

Visitors to Hinckley’s Christmas light switch-on event will be able to win prizes in a fun and free new festive walking trail when they come along on Friday 21 November.

For the first time, those walking from Hollycroft Park car park, Clarendon Park car park (Roston Drive or Coventry Road), or Hinckley Hub car park can enjoy a festive journey filled with fun and prizes thanks to Active Hinckley and Bosworth, the team that promotes sport and physical activity to borough residents.

Participants are invited to park for free after 3pm and embark on the trail, solving a puzzle along the way. Upon completion, they can claim a prize at the Choose How You Move stall located in Church Walk Car Park (w3w.co).

To join the trail, visitors can download the trail card from the Active Hinckley and Bosworth website (activehb.org.uk) or simply look out for the first trail marker in the car park. As they walk, they will gather symbols to help solve the puzzle, and present their answer to the Choose How You Move team to receive their reward.

In addition to the walking trail, there will be changes to town centre parking on Friday, 21 November, the day of the Christmas lights switch-on. All Hinckley council-operated car parks will offer free parking from 3pm, and the Hinckley Hub car park will remain open until 9pm for use.

Shoppers should note that Church Walk car park will be unavailable for parking from midnight on Thursday, 20 November until 10pm on Friday, 21 November, as it will host additional market stalls.

Trinity East car park will also be closed for parking from midnight on Wednesday, 19 November until 7am on Sunday, 23 November to accommodate extra Tin Hat fair rides.

For those opting to cycle to the event, a free manned bike park will be available at Church Walk car park.

Council Leader Stuart Bray said: “We’re pleased to introduce this festive walking trail as part of the Christmas light switch-on celebrations this year. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to enjoy the town, solve a fun puzzle, and experience the magic of the season together. We hope everyone will join us and make this event a memorable start to Christmas in Hinckley and Bosworth.”
