Volunteers who make a real difference in Hinckley and Bosworth were honoured at the annual Making a Difference awards, recently held at Hinckley Rugby Club.

Organised by the Borough Council, the awards recognise the vital role volunteers play in supporting vulnerable residents, improving the borough, contributing to our culture and protecting and supporting our environment.

This year, categories included Creating a Sense of Community Pride, with both groups and individuals rewarded. There were also prizes for Contributing to Our Local Heritage, Culture or Tourism Offer; Protecting Our Community’s Environment and Young Volunteer.

Executive Member for the Voluntary Sector, Cllr Michael Mullaney praised the nominees, saying: “It’s inspiring to see people who have given decades of service alongside those just starting their volunteering journey. Every nominee deserves recognition for strengthening our community.”

A total of 36 winners across five categories were celebrated at the awards ceremony. The winners will be spotlighted on the Borough Council’s social media channels over the festive period. Congratulations to everyone who won an award.
