Town celebrates St George’s Day
Hinckley celebrated St George's Day with a special programme of traditional entertainment on Saturday (25 April).
The event, which was organised by the Borough Council, offered plenty of free entertainment and activities for the whole family including morris dancing, Tom the Tale Teller, community stalls and a whole range of children’s crafts and activities.
There was also a book exchange stall, which will be appearing at the Borough Council’s town centre events throughout the year, to celebrate the National Year of Reading. Adults and children alike are welcome to bring or take a free book.
As in previous years, the Hinckley District Scouting Association also paraded through the town with representatives and flags from groups across the borough.
Cllr Mark Bools, Deputy Leader of the Borough Council, said: “It was another great turnout this year to celebrate St George’s Day in Argents Mead, our 21st year of running such an event.
“There was plenty of fun had in the sunshine by those of all ages, with the town’s shops and bustling market stalls benefitting too. I look forward to our other great events throughout the year, details of which you can find on the Borough Council website.”
