Tributes paid to former Mayor
Tributes have been paid to a former Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth and long-serving councillor who has died aged 89.
Rita Aldridge served as a Conservative councillor for a total of 24 years, first representing Barwell ward from 1983 to 1995 and then representing Cadeby, Carlton and Market Bosworth ward from 1999 to 2011. Mrs Aldridge was Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth from 1989 to 1990.
Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council Chief Executive Bill Cullen said: “I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Rita Aldridge. She worked tirelessly for people across the borough and in particular the local communities in the wards she represented. Rita will be remembered fondly for her dedication, her cross party working, humour and service. My heartfelt condolences go to her family and loved ones.”
The funeral service will be held at Countesthorpe Crematorium on Tuesday 26 May at 12pm. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Rita may be made online only through G. Seller (gseller.co.uk)
