Free medieval family fun comes to Hinckley this weekend

Residents and visitors are invited to step back in time for a day of free medieval-themed entertainment at Argents Mead in Hinckley.

The Hinckley Medieval 'Have A Go' Day will take place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 12 September 2026, offering a range of activities and demonstrations for all ages.

The free event will celebrate the area's heritage through interactive performances, re-enactments and family-friendly entertainment.

Activities and timings for the day are:

  • 10am: Official opening time
  • 10:30am – 11am: Mythbusters (Arena)
  • 11:30am – 12pm: Arming the Knight (Arena)
  • 12pm – 12:30pm: Medieval Skirmish (Arena)
  • 1:45pm – 2:15pm: Fashion Show (Camp)
  • 2:15pm – 2:45pm: Medieval Shire Court (Arena)
  • 2:45pm – 3:15pm: Hurried History (Tales for Children) Camp
  • 3:15pm – 3:45pm: Archery Tournament (Archery Arena)
  • 4pm – 4:40pm: Medieval Battle (Arena)
  • 5pm: Official finish

This event is one of a series of Heritage Open Days events taking place across the borough throughout September.

Cllr Mark Bools, Deputy Leader the Borough Council, said: "I am so pleased to see the Medieval 'Have A Go' Day return this year as part of the wider programme of Heritage Open Days.

“The Hinckley and Bosworth area has so much history and culture to offer, and it’s great for our young people and families to engage with that history while having a day full of fun.”
