7th Hinckley CAMRA Beer Festival

Published Thursday, 04 September 2014

Issued on behalf of Hinckley CAMRA

11–13 September at the Atkins Building

Once again we are holding our festival at the Atkins Building, a premier location in Hinckley. As before there will be an additional marquee to accommodate live music and more drinkers.

We will have 65+ real ales, many from local breweries. Elliswood Brewery of Hinckley will have their own bar with a selection of beers.

We will also be featuring beers from new breweries not in our immediate vicinity.

Following our recent trip to the Black Country, we will be offering several beers from recent newcomers in that area.

For the 2nd year, during our festival, Hinckley and Bosworth branch of CAMRA have the honour of judging the East Midlands Region beer of the year in the Best Bitter category.

In addition there will be 25 ciders and perries and 13 flavours of fruit wines, plus a selection of English wines.

All drinks can be obtained using the tokens sold at the entrance along with commemorative glasses to buy and keep at £2, or refundable on exit. Non commemorative pint glasses will be available and all beers will be sold in pints, halves and thirds.

Our entertainment on Friday night in the marquee will be The Press, an excellent local band of six youngsters who play covers of songs that were first released well before they were born. Their proficiency belies their tender years.

On Saturday night we have booked Weirdfish a three piece rock band from Leicester who regularly perform at the Black Horse, Hinckley.

The festival will be officially opened at 5pm on Thursday 11 September by Hinckley Mayor Jeffrey Bannister. In addition to his other duties, Jeff is also an active member of Hinckley and Bosworth CAMRA.

The festival will open from Noon till 11pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Food will be available from Café Impressions in the Gallery.

Come along to sample a range of beers and vote for your favourite. The winning brewery of “The Beer of the Festival” will be awarded with a plaque to commemorate their success. Check the advantages of CAMRA membership; this year has seen a significant increase in membership locally and nationally. We will have a membership stall for you to join on the day with a special incentive for new young members, 18 – 25 year olds.

We will also have a shop selling CAMRA apparel and books.
More details and our beer list, when complete, will be on our website:
