FINAL preparations are now underway to celebrate St George's Day with a special programme of traditional entertainment in Hinckley town centre.
The bunting is going up in the town to create a festive atmosphere in readiness for the event on Saturday 25 April.
During the day there will be a St George and the Dragon street entertainment act, Morris dancers, a Punch and Judy show, children’s craft activities, a London red bus, and a find-the-flag hunt around the town centre. All activities are free.
The town centre ‘Bounty’ pub will change its name for the day to ‘The George’ and will be providing traditional cream teas from outside.
The Saturday market will also be bustling.
As in previous years, the Hinckley District Scouting Association will be parading through the town with representatives and flags from groups across the borough totalling nearly 300 children and young people.
This is the 10th year that the Borough Council, supported by the Town Centre Partnership, has organised events to celebrate St George’s Day.
There will be something for all ages to experience between 10am and 3pm while enjoying the town’s shops and market stalls.
