Issued on behalf of Sky Ride and British Cycling

If you’re keen to get out on your bike a bit more and explore more of your local area this summer, but don’t know where to start, a series of free guided bike rides coming to Hinckley & Bosworth could be the answer.
Part of a national campaign to get more people cycling for fun and fitness, Sky Ride Local offers a fantastic range of themed guided bike rides taking place throughout the summer months.
British Cycling and Sky, in partnership with Leicestershire County Council and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, have scheduled a series of themed Sky Ride Local rides in and around the borough including Hinckley, Market Bosworth, Barwell and Earl Shilton for 2015. Guided by friendly British Cycling Ride Leaders along scenic local routes and pitched at three different levels, the rides will explore different themes from Wildlife and Wilderness to City Streets and Parklife.
Stewart Kellett, British Cycling’s Director of Recreation and Partnerships, said:
‘What better way to get some exercise, get outdoors and see your area in a new way than to join some of the themed Sky Ride Local bike rides taking place in and around Leicestershire this summer.
‘The rides begin on Sunday 31 May, so there’s no time like the present to get your bike out. Whether you want to build your cycling confidence or already comfortable on a bike and looking for a challenge, now’s the time to register your free place on a Sky Ride Local bike ride in Leicestershire.’
Anna MacDonald, Active Travel Development Coordinator for Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, said:
‘The Hinckley Sky Ride Local programme provides an active, fun and free opportunity for you and your family to get on their bikes and enjoy the Borough this Summer! There are a range of rides on offer, for the beginners through to the more experienced cyclists!’
‘With the new and improved cycling routes in and around the town centres, we want to encourage the local community to get on their bikes and cycle more, whether it’s for commuting, fitness or enjoyment. So, don’t delay and sign up to a Sky Ride Local today!’
