EARL Shilton Camera Club are returning to the Atkins Gallery in Hinckley this month for their third exhibition showcasing the photographic skills of their members.
This friendly group of local amateur photographers meet regularly at the Earl Shilton Constitutional Club and organise talks, outings and host photographic competitions. The club has 45 members ranging from beginners to experienced photographers with the common aim of improving all members' skills and sharing knowledge.
The exhibition, which runs from 25 to 30 September, will be the culmination of all the members’ projects and artworks with prints available for sale and is supported by a grant from Earl Shilton Town Council.
On Wednesday 27 September the club are hosting a special evening event at Atkins Gallery where visitors can meet members of the club and find out about the artwork on display.
On the same night the club are setting up a pop-up studio with lights, backdrops and portrait models for visitors to try their hand at studio and portrait photography with their own cameras. For a suggested donation of £1 visitors can use the pop-up studio with club members on hand to advise on techniques and camera settings from 7pm to 9pm.
Councillor Maureen Cook, the Borough Council’s Executive Member for Culture, Sport and Leisure, said: “I welcome the return of the photographic exhibition and would encourage members of the community to pay a visit to the Atkins Building to see just what is achievable.”
