Issued on behalf of Hinckley Leisure Centre.
Staff and members of the Places Leisure Hinckley Leisure Centre, and Places Gym got out their aprons and baked to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in aid of the world’s biggest coffee morning last week.
With donations of cakes, muffins, cookies and bought items the two Hinckley sites managed to raise a huge £410.89, all donated to the Macmillan Cancer Support charity. Contracts Marketing Manager, Carly Pinker said:
We are so pleased that both sites came together and raised such an amazing amount of money. We would like to thank all members and staff that baked, and the local community for donating money and enjoying a cake with us!
Anyone who missed the cake sale has another chance to get involved when both sites take part in ‘Wear it Pink Day’, later this month with a 55,000-metre cycling relay. Members of staff will be taking to the bikes located in reception on Friday 19 October to cycle 55,000 metres dressed in pink to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.
Members can also get involved by dressing in pink and taking part in a free ‘pink’ exercise class on the day. Miss Pinker added:
Around 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK. That’s 55,000 reasons why more money for breast cancer prevention, treatment and care is needed. That’s why we’re urging everyone to head down to the Leisure Centre in your best pink outfit to get involved with free ‘pink’ exercise classes to raise money for this worthy cause.
