A SPECIAL outdoor service and parade will be held in Hinckley on Saturday 29 June to enable people to show their support for the Armed Forces.
Now in its 11th year, Armed Forces Day offers everyone a chance to thank the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
A procession will leave Castle Street outside Jaspers (the former Co-op) at 10:50am and march down Castle Street and into Argents Mead for a service starting at 11am. The service will last for around 25 minutes and then the parade will make its way down Castle Street and along Station Road where a formal salute will be taken.
Organised by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council and the Hinckley Combined Ex-services Association, the event will include representatives from several regiments, nationalities, sections and services, including the local cadet forces.
All are welcome to attend this free event and honour the current and past serving men and women. Anyone wishing to attend the service in Argents Mead is respectfully asked to arrive by 10:45am.
Executive Member for Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Town Centres at the Borough Council, Councillor Keith Nichols, said:
We are proud to be supporting Armed Forces Day once again this year. It is important to remember and recognise what the men and women in our Armed Forces have done and continue to do for us. I hope that our residents will join us to thank our Armed Forces at this very special event.
The Armed Forces Day flag will also be flown at the Hinckley Hub from Monday 24 June to Monday 1 July in order to mark this national event.
