The Borough Council has welcomed the opening of a new X-ray facility at Hinckley and District Hospital following the decision to reinstate the service rather than its closure.
Over the past few months councillors had expressed their concerns about its loss and particularly as local residents would have been forced to travel to Coalville or into Leicester City for this key service.
Council Leader, Councillor Stuart Bray said
I am delighted that the funding for this key facility has been secured but equally proud that we helped lead the campaign to save the service with the offer of loaning funds to West Leicestershire CCG.
Whilst those funds were not necessary I’m grateful to our colleagues at the CCG, the University Hospitals of Leicester and the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Alliance who provide planned care services at Hinckley and District Hospital for their work in bringing about a solution to this difficult issue. This is a key facility for local residents that all of us were keen to reinstate in Hinckley as soon as practically possible.
In these difficult days it is great to receive and see some good news which will benefit a lot of people.
