How to apply for a street trading consent licence

Licence summary

If you wish to sell any item within designated streets in the Hinckley town centre area, you will need to apply for a street trading consent licence from the council.

The application will be considered in relation to:

  • The trading location
  • Goods for sale
  • Trading hours
  • Suitability of trader

Please note the consent given is subject to conditions.

Each application needs to be accompanied by two passport type photographs of the applicant and any assistants, all of whom are also required to submit a basic criminal records certificate.

Traders are advised to be mindful of not creating nuisance to surrounding businesses or dwellings. Traders must not obstruct any pathways or roads with their vehicles.

All traders selling food must be registered as a food business with their local authority.

Street trading outside of Hinckley town centre

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council provides street trading consents within a designated area in the town centre. Outside the designated streets, it is the responsibility of the trader to obtain permission of the landowner.
