Adapting homes for disabled people

Adapting homes for disabled people

Following requests from Social Services, major adaptations to council properties are being carried out. The scope of these works can include the following:

  • Construction of extensions or alterations to the existing structure to provide additional purpose designed living accommodations for people with a disability
  • Floor drainage shower rooms
  • Bedroom accommodation
  • Other accommodation requirements as requested by Social Services occupational therapists
  • Access ramps, car stands, handrails and hoist equipment

All this work is designed to give an improved standard of life, allowing much improved care in the community for people with a disability.

Further information is available in the major social services adaptations leaflet.
