Adapting council homes for disabled people
The process
Following requests from social services, major adaptations to council properties are being carried out. The scope of these works can include the following:
- Level access shower
- Stair lift
- Ramps
- Wheelchair adapted kitchens
- Ground floor extensions (bedrooms and bathrooms)
- Other accommodation requirements as requested by Social Services occupational therapists
Due to high levels of demand, it is also currently necessary to obtain a referral from social services for minor adaptation to your property such as:
- The installation of grab rails
- Lever taps
- Stair rails
- Half steps
- Key safes
- Level thresholds
