Former flutters site

Last week senior council officers met the owner of the former Flutters bingo building, Mr Andrew Tyler, to ascertain his intentions for the building.

The council was keen to see whether the entire building could be acquired for possible community use.

Unfortunately, Mr Tyler confirmed that he already has a purchase agreement in place with a retail company. Mr Tyler also expressed grave concerns about the present state of the building particularly the fabric of the building and leaking heating pipes below ground. The estimated cost of buying the building and bringing it back to use is in excess of £2million.

Council Leader Stuart Bray said:

“The council is keen to work with groups who want to put events on in the community. They should come and talk to us about their ideas and we’ll gladly assist them, where possible, in finding venues.”
