Have a stall at the switch-on
Art and craft stalls
If you would like to have a market stall at this year's Christmas Lights switch on, application forms will be available shortly. The normal Friday market fee of £23.50 will be charged and you must provide proof of Public Liability Insurance cover with an indemnity of £5 million.
Food and drink stalls
Food and drink vendors are welcome to apply for a stall, however, please note that we already have regular market traders who are licensed to sell hot food, including burgers, hot dogs and jacket potatoes. This will be considered when booking additional food and drink stalls. The fee for a standard 3m x 6m hot food or drinks pitch is £75. Larger stalls or units will be charged an additional fee.
Please see below a list of environmental requests that we would like all food vendors to abide by including:
- No plastic straws
- Utilising recyclable plates, bowls, and cutlery
- No black plastic
- Vendors are to take away with them their own generated waste please
How to apply
To apply for a market stall or food and drinks pitch at the switch-on please complete our online form below. Please note, no fee will be charged until your application has been accepted
A limited number of stalls are available free of charge to local charities, such as groups of Brownies, Guides, Scouts, church groups and community groups. These stalls are offered by invitation and it is rare for any surplus stalls to be left available to other fundraisers, so we do not offer an open invitation to attend. We also prioritise commercial stalls as an income source, so the remaining free stalls are very limited and in high demand. Allocation will be at the council's discretion. Booking is normally carried out during September.
100% of all proceeds from any charity stall must be donated to the named charity. Fundraisers donating a percentage of the proceeds will not be accepted.
Young Enterprise scheme
Young people often have a stall at the event as part of the Young Enterprise scheme. These stalls are payable at half the normal fee (£11.75) and you will need to show proof of Public Liability Insurance cover. This is normally available from your school or college.
