The War Memorial Trust hold regular meetings and conferences. The information below emerged at recent events.

For those in England, English Heritage launched its Heritage at Risk register 2012. This included information on the plans to incorporate Grade II listed buildings (92% of the total) onto the register. To start this project they are seeking pilot projects to work with across the country, which would involve a local authority, visit the English Heritage website for further information.

Prime Minister David Cameron  announced proposals for events to mark the centenary of World War I. There are a number of initiatives which may be of interest and it was good to hear what government thinking is around these events. As we discussed at the War Memorials Officer conference last month there may well be key events to be marked locally, for example Pals Battalion battles, significant local losses on specific dates or events which took place within the community. Having the ability to plan knowing the national focus should be useful. Some of the links below highlight some of the key announcements.
