Hinckley High Street Heritage Action Zone
Community engagement and cultural programme
The council’s Cultural Programme Coordinator has established a consortium of cultural stakeholders and accompanied by other key community stakeholders has arranged a programme of events to celebrate the rich heritage of Hinckley. Since April 2020 there has been:
- Guided walks through medieval Hinckley by the Hinckley Archaeological Society
- A ‘Shakespeare in Hinckley’ play delivered by Hinckley’s own Red River Theatre
- ‘Hinckley 300’ – a commemoration of 300 years since the establishment of the Atkins family hosiery firm in Hinckley, with images of the hosiery industry being displayed upon a building in the town centre
A further programme of engagement and events are being planned up to the end of March 2024, including a medieval festival within Argents Mead and a celebration of Hinckley’s own literary heroine Charlotte Brame. Further information will be provided on this web page and the council’s events calendar in due course.
