Doing business with the council - how we buy
Financial thresholds
Definitions:
- 'Works' - the carrying out of building or engineering works for the council
- 'Goods' - supply of any goods or materials to the council
- 'Services' - the provision of any services (including research, professional or consultancy services) to the council
Unless we are purchasing from a framework agreement:
For purchases below £5,000: we may obtain quotes in order to ascertain and demonstrate the overriding principle of value for money.
For any purchases above £5,000 and below £20,000: we are required to obtain two written quotes from potential suppliers.
For any purchases above £20,000 and below £50,000: we are required to obtain three written quotes from potential suppliers.
For any goods or services contracts of £50,000 and above: we follow a full tendering procedure.
