How to make sure your bin is emptied
You need to remove all the items which are unsuitable. You can take these items to a recycling and household waste site (leicestershire.gov.uk) or put them in your refuse bin (black lid).
Usually there is more than one item wrong in a bin. Therefore, the crews don't take the items out due to the time it will take; there is nowhere to put the incorrect items and there is the possibility of hazardous items within the bin.
Crews can't return
If we have not collected your bin because it contains unsuitable items, we do not have the resources to return for bins until the next scheduled collection day. This keeps costs down. We will take extra recycling; an unwanted cardboard box is ideal for extra items.
We recommend bins are put out with the handle facing the street since this may deter passers-by from putting items/litter into your bin. Also, putting your bin out at 7am and putting it away as soon after it has been emptied will also help.
