Grants are available for you to install an electric vehicle charging point for your home.

The UK Government have announced electric charging grants for domestic off-street parking. These grants are available to you if you have a driveway or any other form of off-street parking. This is only available to private homes and not businesses. For more information on the scheme and how to claim this grant, please visit Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (GOV.UK)

All vehicles that have been approved as ultra-low emission vehicles by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) are eligible for the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme.

You cannot install an electric charge point on the pavement outside your home. It must be on your own driveway.

To keep everyone safe, the cable to charge your vehicle cannot run along the pavement as this causes a trip hazard and may result in liability claims for the homeowner, occupants and local council. All electrical equipment will be certified and regularly tested for safety under the Electrical Wiring Regulations.

Electric charging point for businesses

For businesses, a workplace charging scheme has been announced by the government. This is a voucher-based scheme for workplaces to install electric vehicle charging points. More information on Workplace Charging Scheme: guidance for applicants, chargepoint installers and manufacturers (GOV.UK)
