National updates

The UK hosted the 26th United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November 2021 with COP28 taking place in December 2023, bringing parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN framework convention on climate change COP26 (ukcop26.org)

The UK Climate Change Committee published their 2023 progress report in June which highlights the need to focus on delivering climate change commitments. We also need to empower and inform households to make low-carbon choices as we aim to achieve net zero by 2050.

The intergovernmental panel on climate change produced a report in August confirming that we cannot wait to tackle climate change and deeming it a code red for humanity. Find out more about climate change is and what is being done (bbc.co.uk)
