Council tax discount: an adult in prison

When a person is in prison (or detained elsewhere), they may be able to apply for a 25% council tax discount if one person remains in the property, or an exemption if the property is empty. This is whether it is furnished or not.

If the person is in prison because they haven't paid their council tax, they wouldn't be able to apply for a discount or exemption.
