Appeal procedures

The applicant can make an appeal against a planning decision on the following grounds:

  • Refusal of an application
  • The application is allowed, but is subject to conditions which the applicant finds unacceptable
  • The authority fails to determine the application within the statutory period for making the decision

Appeals are handled by the Planning Inspectorate (GOV.UK)

Fast track appeal service

If you are appealing against a householder, advertisement or commercial (shop front) decision, this procedure offers a simpler, more proportionate approach to the handling of appeals on the basis of written representations, so that determinations can be made quickly.

Appeals can also be made against an enforcement notice (GOV.UK)
