No cold calling zones
How cold calling zones apply to house to house collections
There are several areas within the borough of Hinckley and Bosworth that have been designated as a 'No Cold Calling zone'. This means that the occupants living in the designated area do not accept people who are calling uninvited to their homes (normally to sell goods or ask for donations).
The purpose of 'No Cold Calling Zones' is to discourage cold callers from specific residential areas, usually a street or small cluster of houses. The introduction of the scheme provides householders with the opportunity to discourage in groups the often unwelcome practice of cold calling. Whilst zones have no force in law, they give householders within them the confidence to say no to cold callers.
No cold calling zones are indicated by local street signage or by stickers on individual houses. Please note we don't have a specific list of the no cold calling designated areas in our borough.
If you are collecting near one of these zones please ask your collectors to respect the rights of local residents.
