Business rates - collection and enforcement

Business rate final notice

A final notice is issued after either a first reminder has not been settled, or where a second reminder has been settled and further payment has been defaulted upon.

When a final notice is issued, the right to pay by instalments is withdrawn, and the full balance is due and payable immediately.

Will I be able to pay by instalments in the future?

Yes, at the beginning of each financial year, all business rate payers have the right to pay by monthly instalments.

I am unable to pay the full amount, what other options do I have?

We may be able to consider a direct debit repayment agreement, subject to court action and your past repayment history. Please contact the Business Rates Team on 01455 265450, option 3 three, to discuss your circumstances further.
