Money saving apps and food waste tips
There are a variety of apps that can help you save money on food or claim money back from purchases.
For more information, please visit apps to help you cut food waste and save cash (bbc.co.uk)
Examples are:
- Olio
- This is an app for giving away, getting, borrowing or lending things in your community for free, aiming to reduce household and food waste. It does this by connecting neighbours with spare food or household items to others nearby who wish to pick up those items
- Too Good to Go
- This app connects customers with supermarkets, cafes and restaurants that have surplus unsold food. People pay a fee for the bag then need to go and collect from the venue
- Items are random and may be close to use by date. The aim of this app is to reduce and redistribute food waste
- Shopmium
- Cashback based app where people can get money back from certain items purchased. They often feature different promotions and can be a great way for people to get money back on food, toiletries and household items
