The ever-popular Mallory Mile returned to the Mallory Park Circuit in Kirkby Mallory last night (6 June) as part of local celebrations for National Bike Week.

Families and community groups brought their bikes along and joined in, cycling laps of the track just for fun or to raise money for good causes.

The free annual event, which was organised by the Borough Council in partnership with Race Rapid, the team running cycling at the Mallory Circuit, aims to help everyone to experience cycling in a safe, traffic free environment.

Wheels for All were also at the event with their fantastic range of adapted bikes for anyone to try along with Mini Bikers and the Choose How You Move team from Leicestershire County Council and Leicestershire Police.

Executive Member for Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Town Centres at the Borough Council, Councillor Keith Nichols said:

It was great to see this popular event return this year, offering everyone an ideal opportunity to take their cycle for a spin in a safe and secure environment. Cycling is a fantastic method of exercise and suitable for all ages. Thanks to everyone who came along and supported this event.
