Recycling, rubbish and waste

 The council is committed to reducing the amount of waste that is sent to landfill. We aim to encourage residents to:

• Reduce the amount of waste they produce
• Reuse products
• Recycle waste where possible

All councils have targets to achieve and thanks to the continued efforts of residents the recycling / composting rate in this borough is over 49%. There is still the potential to recycle a lot more and to help residents we provide fortnightly kerbside services to collect the following:

• Paper including newspaper, magazines and directories
• Cardboard
• Envelopes
• Glass bottles and jars
• Aluminum and steel tins/cans
• Household plastic packaging
• Cartons
• Household batteries
• Textiles and shoes
• Garden waste

Collections are fortnightly using wheeled bins, boxes and bags and all services start at 7am.
